If you read our story, you know that Ryan lived in Haiti for two years and it was Haiti where he fell in love with Mangos.

But, it was also Haiti where Ryan saw poverty. Haiti is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere and Ryan clearly remembers seeing people sipping water out of gutters and parents begging for money to feed their starving children even while he bought those mangos.

So, while it’s great that we are able to make wonderfully delicious cards and juicy artwork and send them to the people we love, we feel that it’s only great if we are also able to help (at least in some small way) those who are hurting in our country and around the world with the profits from what we do.

Our slogan blatantly beautiful is us. It’s not a slogan to be catchy but a slogan to remind us that if this company isn’t bring something beautiful to this world every day, than why are we doing it? So, here are three ways we’re trying to bring some beauty…

We used to donate 10% of all profits to a variety of causes. However, after attending a Krochet Kids international gala in the Spring of 2011, we decided to change. We decided it would be better to get behind a single organization with everything we’ve got, and there is not an organization we were more excited about (and are more excited about) than Krochet Kids, international.

KKi is slowly changing the world: bringing beauty in blatant ways. That’s currently happening through the employment and empowerment of 87 women in Uganda by creating sustainable economic programs crocheting hats and selling them in the US. KKi is currently moving into Peru as well.

There is lots we would love to tell you but maybe the best thing we can say is this: go check out their site if you have a moment. You’ll be as moved as we were.
