OUR FAVORITE FAMILY NEW YEAR TRADITION!

In 2015, with our youngest at 11 years old and our oldest at 18, we started a New Year’s Eve family tradition that has turned into one of our absolute favorites as it has evolved and changed… along with us. It’s pretty simple at its root: we write down (at least) 5 things we are grateful for from the year before (this often involves looking through old photos on the phone) and then we write down (at least) 5 things we want to accomplish/dream about for the upcoming year.

After we’ve written them down, we share them with the family, put them an envelope and wait to open them the following year where we read the 5 things we dreamed about - and comment about how good or bad we did - and then start the process all over.

We’ve had “eat more smoothies”, “graduate college”, “visit 3 countries”, “start meditating”, “call a friend every week” and every thing in between over the years but it always keeps us laughing, pushing, dreaming, and being grateful at the same time.

So, as 2022 starts, (we had to our tradition early because our daughter had to get back to her nursing job - a goal from last year) we’ve got our list down for 2022 and highly recommend doing some version of your own. It’s been nothing but a good time. Let us know if you try it with your family.

soooo, 2022.... LET'S GOOOOO!
for the new year, we are wishing these things for all of us :

  • pandemic gone (right?)

  • purging what no longer is needed in our lives (people, things, habits?)

  • strength to heal and move past things holding us back (what is not working?)

  • listening to the changes we need to make, and honoring that for ourselves. (for the person who puts themselves last.)

SENDING LOVE TO YOU ALL from our family to yours!

with love, ryan and heidi
