Make It Personal: Heidi’s Tips for Stunning Holiday CardS

as the holiday season approaches, it’s time to think about how to make your holiday cards truly special. here are some of my favorite tips for personalizing your cards to spread joy and connection this season.

12 Unique Tips for Holiday Cards

recreate an old family photo: we giggled about this one. back in 2007 we rushed to get a photo for our holiday card. (you can scroll down to see the original here). no one was dressed up, so we turned it to black and white.. well, i think sepia really lol, but anyway, we decided to recreate our family's favorite holiday card and send it out side by side last year. see how we did that here. you can use any old photo. have fun!

add a poem: we had ryan's cousin write us our poem last year, but you can ask chatgpt to help you or find a poet in your life. it's a fun way to let your friends and family know all that is happening in your life without being so serious.

family photo fun: gather the crew and snap a cozy family photo! whether you’re in your living room crammed on the couch or bundled up outside, capturing a moment together is such a sweet way to spread joy. take a selfie or use a timer on your phone to grab that candid photo. and guess what? it's okay if everyone is not looking at the camera. we even love that better sometimes.

make a collage: was this NOT the year for that family photo? let us make a collage of everyone beaming in their own way.

cut out: and if the backgrounds don't match, then we will cut those photos out and get them perfectly “together” on your card. this one is a best seller for that reason.

share a little story: include a favorite memory from the past year on your card. maybe it was that spontaneous road trip or the time you tried a new recipe that went hilariously wrong. these little snippets bring a smile and connect us all!

handwritten love: leave a little space to write a few personal notes on each card. it could be as simple as “thinking of you” or “can’t wait to catch up.” it’s those heartfelt touches that make a card feel extra special.

quirky facts: add a fun fact about your family from the past year! did someone learn a new skill or discover a hidden talent? it’s these little quirks that spark laughter and create connection.

kids’ creativity: let the little ones add their artistic touch! whether it’s a drawing or a little note, their creations will make the cards even more heartfelt and personal. we can even convert it digitally and they can be the card designer. pure joy.

tradition highlights: if your family has unique holiday traditions, mention them in your card. it’s a lovely way to share your joy and connect with others who might have similar customs.

be the most you: stand out and spark joy in your own way. we are all unique and your card should be a reflection of you. we are here to help!

be a beam of light: with all that is going on in the world, it's our chance to say something warm, loving, kind and contagious. spread love like a wildfire!
